Ulrick & Short

Ulrick & Short is a leading developer and supplier of clean label starches, flour, fibre and protein.

For the new location in Rossum, we created a multifunctional office for Ulrick & Short.

Creating such a multifunctional environment can be quite a challenge. Originally based in the UK, Ulrick & Short had set its sights on a new office in the Netherlands for its Dutch branch, where they could not only develop their products, but also welcome and inspire potential customers.

After an intensive design process, the building initially chosen proved unsuitable for the required technical installations, so we started looking for another location. In the end, the choice fell on a characteristic building in Rossum. This building, with its rural appearance, offered a special atmosphere that perfectly matched the client’s vision.

A project like this requires a careful balance between functionality and aesthetics.

The building had to serve as both office, lab and cooking studio. In the process, we worked closely with the client. We designed a space that focuses on the company’s processes and products. The concept was visually reinforced by the layout: the raw materials enter on the left side of the building where visuals of starches are subtly incorporated. Preparation takes place in the middle, which is clearly visible in the interior design, including an impressive kitchen that acts as an eye-catcher.

It became a professional-looking office that simultaneously exudes a homely atmosphere. The dark colour tones give the space warmth, while the lab area is sleek and functional. The client’s confidence allowed us to make bold choices, such as the use of a striking black wall, which was ultimately embraced by all. The end result is a space where functionality and design come together seamlessly, and where the company can be proud of its new facility.
