Green Friday

Not a Black Friday but a Green Friday.

Overconsumption has major impacts on our earth, such as depletion of natural resources, pollution and unnecessary CO2 emissions. The Green Friday initiative was created in 2017 as a counter-movement to consumerism. So today is a great day to share some sustainable tips that will make your life and that of your office a little more sustainable.

1. Give a tree as a gift

The Trees for All website allows you to give a tree as a gift. Trees for All plants trees in the Netherlands and abroad. They strive for a better climate, more biodiversity and healthier living conditions. As a company you can have a tree planted once, monthly or annually, but of course it is also an original gift to give to a relation or to employees.

2. The 4 R’s

Think about the 4 R’s a little more often. This method is based on the waste hierarchy.
π—₯π—²π—±π˜‚π—°π—²: buy things bigger, with less (plastic) packaging.
π—₯π—²π˜‚π˜€π—²: try to find a new use for something you want to throw away.
π—₯π—²π—°π˜†π—°π—Ήπ—²: separate waste. Waste separation bins from Trece, Van Esch, and Rexite, among others, have beautiful designs.
π—₯π—²π˜π—΅π—Άπ—»π—Έ: think of innovative ways to reduce your waste.

3. Waste fishing

Choose trash fishing as a corporate outing. Thanks to PlasticWhale and others, plastic fishing has become a very popular activity. You can do this in the canals of Amsterdam or on the waters of Rotterdam. The plastic they collect is recycled into furniture and more boats to fish plastic with.

4. Circulaas

Celebrate with your colleagues not Sinterklaas but Circulaas. Give each other something that has been gathering dust in your attic for some time but that you can make someone very happy with. A sustainable way to celebrate Sinterklaas!
