DYLAN Steel Solutions is a leading supplier of steel products. Their new, large building in business park DistriPark in Dordrecht accommodates employees who previously worked in two locations in Oud-Beijerland and Oud-Gastel.
Connection. That’s what it is all about in the impressive building between motorway A16 and Hollands Diep near Dordrecht. First of all, of course, about what DYLAN Steel Solutions is good at: supplying conductor material and everything associated with it. But the building also stands for a different kind of connection: for a bridged between man, technology and nature. For the connection between outside and inside.
In the case of DYLAN steel, we could also exploit this. We used the sturdy, rough character of steel and the natural, green character of the outside environment. Large pictures of a waterfall and a river are striking eyecatchers in a building in which there is much space thanks to large glass areas.
An important requirement was that one had to be able to work quietly in the new office landscape. In the previous location, acoustics were a disturbing element. In the new building, we therefore ensured there were sufficient separate work spaces and large team rooms where each team could close the door for a minute to focus. We also placed acoustic walls containing a playful reference to the conductor material with which the company works.
The plinth of the building on the ground floor is the space where everyone comes together and meets one another. There is space here for lunch, informal meetings or a Friday afternoon drink. It has become a place to be proud of. Four floors, each with its own character, but still interconnected. An environment where connection is the red thread. Grand, but still welcoming.
